We Have the Keys!We have the keys for the first few apartments for families Mercy's Shore will serve. That is a major milestone on our journey over the last three years. Without housing there can be no residential program. So what are the apartments like? They are about 700 square feet in size, with the usual appliances, including refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, garbage disposal, and the cherry on top are a washer and dryer in each of the apartments! Most of the families we will serve have never had an apartment of their own, let alone with a washer and dryer included. When the families move in, the pantry, refrigerator and freezer will be stocked with all of the items needed to feed the family. The beds will be made with clean linens, floors will be swept and vacuumed, and the bathtub and kitchen sink will be scrubbed out and ready for use. How did all of this happen? It all happened because of the generous gifts of friends of the ministry. People who can visualize what it must be like to have lived a life of trauma and poor choices have made it possible. What do we still need? The next time you walk into any room in your home, make a note of the things you see. If you need it, the families we will serve need it, too. Now, we are not thinking about the Monet, Rembrandt or Steinway you have in your sitting room or library. We are talking about things like shower curtains for each of the (4) apartments, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, linens (i.e., towels, hand towels, wash cloths), pots, pans, glasses, flatware, serving bowls, knives for preparing food, cutting board, dish soap, sponges, dish towels. But there are decorations like wall hangings, area rugs for the hardwood floors, too. You name, we will need it. We can still use 3 full-sized beds with frames, 2 dressers, 2 sofas, 4 occasional chairs, 2 coffee tables, 4 end tables, 6 living room lamps, 6 bedroom type lamps, 2 chests of drawers. If you are interested in an apartment a home for a family trying to get back on their feet, please let us know. You can reach out to us at [email protected] or text Doug at (214) 673-5836. We will be happy to pick up the items you wish to donate. The only limitation on the items you donate is that if you would not want it in your home, please do not donate it. We want to convey dignity and respect to those we serve. A Faithful God Who Answers Prayer We are completely dependent on God to sustain us. Please join us in prayer for the following things:
